Nigel Pearson has fought off Championship interest to sign Wayne Brown on loan from Hull City.

Brown, 31, has initially joined the League One leaders on loan for the season, with a view to a permanent deal should things go well.

Pearson: ‘Wayne played a major part in Hull’s promotion to the Premier League last season and his experience will be invaluable to us.

‘He is a player I have admired for a long time and I am delighted to have him on board’.

Brown made a vital contribution to Hull’s rise to the top flight last season, making 44 apperances for the club.

The player spent a month on loan at Preston earlier in the season, making six appearances for Alan Irvine’s Championship side.

Brown is expected to go straight into the squad for Leicester’s clash with Northampton at Sixfields tomorrow.
