It was being reported late yesterday evening that FIFA had rejected the Leicester City documentation on Adrien Silva.

Sky Sports were reporting that FIFA were refusing to accept the documentation in support of signing Silva from Sporting Lisbon.

The deal for the 28 year old midfielder was done on deadline day for a reported £22million but we needed an extension, as did Chelsea for the signing of Danny Drinkwater and whilst that deal – and a number of others have passed – Sky report there was an error on our paperwork and we are now working with Lisbon to get that corrected.

If that happens the deal may then be passed by FIFA and the transfer sanctioned.

Sky quote a Leicester spokesperson saying.

‘We are working with Adrien and Sporting Clube de Portugal to overcome some issues relating to the player’s registration and exploring all options to find a resolution.’

So much for international clearance not being an issue, because it rarely is.
