Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has said an FA Cup derby following the festive schedule will be the perfect tonic for the club.

Speaking to lcfc.com Shakespeare said the trip to Nottingham Forest was perfect given the proximity as a lengthy travel could’ve have been very detrimental to us with how the games in the league fall.

‘I don’t see it as a bad draw. It’s one that, travelling wise, around Christmas is good. It’s nice and local and it might be a blessing in disguise.’

Despite the league being the priority, Shakespeare says we will be pushing to progress in the Cup because Leicester have to develop a winning mentality regardless of the opponent or the competition.

‘It will be a good occasion and a good crowd, so we will go there and see if we can progress because I think in any team, if you can keep winning and have momentum, you never know where you’ll end up. We want to go out and try to win every game, regardless.’
