Sven-Goran Eriksson declared himself pleased following our 3-2 win over Southampton today.

Speaking to lcfc.com following our first home league victory of the season, Eriksson said he was pleased with the spirit and the character of the squad in todays game.

‘That was in the balance right until the end, Southampton have been together as a team for a while now and you could see that by the way they played it around. I feel that we were unlucky last week against Forest, so perhaps we deserved the breaks today. I am proud of the players, they showed great spirit and great heart.’

Along with the obvious victory and 3 points, Sven also said he was pleased to see the team coming together more and showing more of an understanding of each other as the game ticked by.

‘I feel we are getting better with each game, but we need to show consistency throughout 90 minutes. We are making progress.’
