Derby still a relegation clash

After three successive Championship league victories Leicester City will be chasing their third successive home win over Derby at the Walkers tomorrow (7.45).

In last year’s home fixture they gained a 1-0 win and in 2002/2003 they triumphed 3-1.

With Derby having drawn two and lost four of their last six away fixtures for an aggregate score of 13-3 against, Leicester would seem to be favourites to land a fourth League win on the trot.

But with Wesolowski definitely out much could depend on how well team members recover from the bug that has been sweeping the club.

Gareth Williams had to be sent home before the Brighton game, McCarthy and Ryan Smith were notable victims and there were others in and around the squad who were not too good either.

The game remains a relegation clash with Derby now a point below City in the table with 34 points from 33 matches.

Although still five points clear of Brighton in the highest of the relegation places Derby are in desperate financial difficulties, have recently shed a manager and are in freefall results wise.

That said in 46 matches between the clubs, Derby have won 16 to Leicester’s 13 but in the last seven games between the clubs Derby have won only once, by 3-0 in 2001/2002 while losing four and drawing twice.
