Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has declared his interest in signing former European Cup winner Edgar Davids.
Davids is currently a free agent after leaving Ajax in the summer last year. The 36-year-old is also being tracked by Portsmouth, who are apparently willing to match the wages put forward by Leicester.
The former Dutch international midfielder possesses a résumé competetive with most players on the planet, following a lengthy career with the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus.
Manager Nigel Pearson told the BBC: ‘When players become available if they are the right players for us then we investigate it.
‘There’s been interest but after that I’m not in a position to comment further. There’s nothing to elaborate on at the moment.’
Davids was chosen by Pelé in 2004 for the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living footballers.
