Shocking headlines aside, Leicester’s move for Dany N’Guessan could be in doubt after Lincoln chairman Steve Wright declared that a deal had not yet been struck for the midfielder.

Although it is thought that the Foxes are still in pole position for Lincoln’s star asset, Wright has informed the Lincolnshire Echo that there are still other clubs waiting to speak to N’Guessan about his future.

‘Leicester will feel they have a head start on everybody by talking to Dany, but by no means is it cut and dry.

Although we have started talking to Leicester about a possible compensation package, there is still a long way to go and they still haven’t agreed terms with the player.

Besides, I will not name the other clubs, but there are others waiting to talk to Dany and have made their interest known to us.

A reliable club source had last week mentioned that the deal was very close to being completed, but talk has cooled in the last few days. With Reading, Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United all rumoured to be interested in the player, Leicester have a fight on their hands to get their man.

With Sheffield United strongly linked with the player last week, it could be possible that N’Guessan’s transfer is determined by the success of the Blades in their play-off final in just over a week’s time.
