Neil Danns has hailed Richie Wellens’ performance as captain against Norwich.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury after the game Danns praised the whole team, but picked out Wellens as a prime example of the captain leading by example.

‘Richie deserves the armband because he is a leader on the pitch. I have been playing alongside Richie a lot and it was no different, we need 11 captains out there on the pitch and at Norwich there was. Credit must go to the boys who stepped in, Ben Marshall was brilliant on his debut and Tom Kennedy carried on where he left off at Palace.’

With league performances still the focus, Danns is allowing himself to keep one eye on the cup though.

‘This is the furthest I have ever been in the competition but, hopefully, we can go even further and get to Wembley.’
