City yobs smash coach window

Serious questions will be asked in the aftermath of Leicester City’s 1-0 FA Cup third round defeat by Southampton after a group of City fans allegedly threw a rock through the window of a coach taking travelling fans home.

The Southampton fans who had been seen in two way bantering with Leicester fans as they prepared to leave the Walkers Stadium area, complained that the trouble started because they had no police escort from the ground to the motorway.

This meant their cavalcade of coaches became stuck in traffic and it was there that they were attacked.

We have picked out a selection of quotes from the Saints Away Days website which were posted around 9.30 this evening (Saturday):

No police escort so we got bogged down in traffic.

About 10 or so kids around about 15 with a couple of adults started banging on the windows and trying to open the doors. They managed to get the door opened on our coach but the driver and a couple of guys at the front chased them off.

As we moved forward in the traffic they went to the coach behind and I could see them throwing stones at it. One of them managed to get abord the coach behind but he was off in seconds, he obviously wasn’t quite so brave when he might have had to actually fight someone.

Saw a couple of them walking back up the road away from the coach behind and as they passed us I saw one of them had a fist size rock with pointed edges in his hand, which I presume is what was used to smash a window on the coach behind.

Seeing as there were children as young as five on our coach I thought their behaviour was despicable and would be extremely pleased to see Leicester relegated now.

I was on the coach that had bricks thrown at it. They threw a massive piece of concrete at the window and it smashed only the first pane of glass.

A couple of them did get on board and tried to start a fight with us. They kept opening the doors and they kept spitting at the driver.

I was actually a bit scared because we didnt know what they were gonna do next, plus there were children on the bus.

Our driver called the police and they said they were on their way but no-one came. there were no police about at all. they were no where to be seen.

They were only about 13 , 14 or 15, chav’s of course. plus an older man of around 45/ 50. I think its pathetic.

Yeah it did happen, loads of young lads and some men outside our coaches after the game and singing songs banging on the coach and people on the coaches were getting worried, didn’t see the smashed window at the time but when back at St.Mary’s one coach window had one of it’s double glazed windows smashed – not right through just one pane.

As the buses slowly went down the road we had somebody hit my coach really hard on the side, then as we got further away, we had only a few little chavs left, but one was trying to get somebody off the coach in front out for a fight, well he almost got ran over trying to get to the coach and then he hit the button that opened the luggage doors, almost got ran over again getting away and tried bolting away from the coach, I don’t know why because nobody was chasing him.

Oh yeah, as I left the ground a grown man said to me, a boy of nearly 17 that we were (expletive) pussies compared to the Pompey lot down the road, then felt it right to call me a (expletive) and tried to start a fight with me, overall not very friendly fans as we left the ground, although seemed like a minority!!!
