Leicester begin a busy December at home to Southampton, the first of 8 games this month.

Leicester are entering a crucial part of the season and with the league so tight, a strong performance this month could see City start to climb the league.

Standing in their way on Saturday will be George Burley’s Southampton side, currently one spot above City in 15th place in The Championship.

Ian Holloway at the City team will take heart from their last home outing against Cardiff, when they were denied all the points be an excellent Kasper Schmeical.

The City fans that night were in fine voice and those attending the games against the Saints will be hoping that a repeat performance will this time see Leicester take all three points.

Vital Quotes:

Holloway on his start as Leicester manager:

I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get six points out of six to be fair. But never mind, beggars can’t be choosers.

My first game at the Walker’s Stadium was marvellous – 28,000 people there, it was a bit scary really.

Leicester City Team News:

City are looking short up front following Matty Fryatt’s 3 match ban which starts this game after an unsuccessful appeal.

With Campbell, Collins John and young Ashley Chambers injured, Hume will be carrying much of the expectation up front.

Carl Cort is also fit.

Player to watch: Hume

With so many forwards out through injury or suspension Iain Hume will be relied upon for the next couple of games to provide the attacking threat. Hopefully nothing happens to him!

Southampton Team News:

Southampton are also struggling with injuries currently,

Darren Powell, Wayne Thomas, Claus Lundekvam, Alexander Ostlund, and Chris Makin, Jhon Viafara and Inigo Idiakez are all expected to miss the game through injury.

Player to watch: Stern John

No relation to Collins, Stern John represented Trinidad and Tobago at the World Cup and following his swap with Kenwyn Jones from Sunderland, John has found the net 5 times this season in the league
