Leicester City youngster Ben Chilwell has been giving his thoughts on last season and revealed what was for him, his highlight moment of the campaign of 2016/17.

The 20 year old left back had to pick out the Champions League quarter final clash against Atletico Madrid as his season highlight, even though we bowed out of the competition with a two one aggregate defeat.

Chilwell was a half time intrduction to the game as a substitute, and he told lcfc.com that owing to the importance of the game, the atmosphere and what it meant for the fans, clearly that stood out in his mind.

‘It was probably coming on at half-time against Atl├ętico Madrid. There was so much riding on that match. For all the players and all the fans, it was such a big occasion. We were so hyped for it so to come on and do well myself was great. Obviously we didn`t go through, but it was a good result and a good performance so that is definitely my highlight of the season.’

The match of course hinged on the first leg one nil result that Atletico picked up, as a one all draw at the King Power wasn’t enough to tie the game up, but it was a performance to remember and an occasion to remember in our maiden Champions League journey.

Chilwell of course had a telling impact in the second leg as his deflected effort fell to Jamie Vardy who side footed in from close range just after the hour mark to renew hope of a comeback, but sadly it wasn’t to be.
