Cardiff game off

Leicester’s match with Cardiff City is off after referee Michael Oliver deemed the pitch to be unplayable at his 10.30 pitch inspection.

The match is one of three postponed in the division today due to a frozen pitch, and is now likely to be re-arranged for a midweek slot.

Cardiff’s new stadium was fitted with under-soil heating technology, but final commissioning to check its working order has not yet been completed.

Thus, despite the best efforts of Cardiff’s ground staff, the match will not go ahead as planned due to the disappointing weather conditions.

It was hoped that other frost-prevention methods could have been used, but these proved to be insufficient and the clash will now be moved to later in the Championship season.

When you consider that Wallsall used flaming bin cans to get the game on, Cardiff couldn’t have been that desperate could they?
