New club captain Wes Morgan has said the clubs’ aim come May is to be in first place in the league, making up for the errors last season.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury ahead of our league kick off against Peterborough, our newly installed captain said the club had simple one aim, and it was an aim he shared.

‘Absolutely, when it gets to May that’s where I want us to be. I’ll take runners up as my second choice, but first place is where you want to be. The manager has mentioned that our aim is promotion and I totally agree. We are confident we can achieve.’

Speaking about his promotion to the position of Captain, Morgan added.

‘It’s quite an honour at such a big club as Leicester. It was a surprise. The manager took me to one side and said he wanted me to be captain for the season. I had no hesitation in saying yes, I was really up for it.’

The interview wasn’t all about Morgan though, he also had wise words on youngster Liam Moore who has stepped into the breach following the injury to Sean St. Ledger.

‘He’s very good and done very well so far. He’s taken his chance and has done a great job. He’s got stature, place and strength and is more than capable of doing the job for the club in that position. I expect big things from him.’

If Moore is alongside Morgan come kick off, that more than answers the questions of whether Nigel Pearson believes he’s good enough now, to play an important part in the first team.
