Leicester City striker DJ Campbell has emerged as a possible loan target for Nigel Clough at Derby County, according to today’s Daily Mirror.

Campbell has struggled to force his way into Nigel Pearson’s first team plans ever since the latter arrived at the club, and Clough could make his move for the plaer before the loan window closes this week.

The striker moved out on loan to Blackpool last season, where he scored nine times in 20 appearances for the club. However, a permanent deal was scuppered, with Campbell’s colossal wages at City cited as the reason for the move’s breakdown.

Derby have already taken Foxes striker Paul Dickov on loan this season, as Clough continues to sweat on the temperamental fitness levels of his forwards at the club.

The move would certainly satisfy all parties involved, as Campbell searches for the first-team football he could receive under Clough at Derby.
