Leicester City youngster Callum Elder more than played his part in Wigan Athletic’s shock victory in the FA Cup over Manchester City on Monday evening.
Elder is out on loan with Wigan this season and they faced a fifth round tie at the beginning of the week at the DW Stadium against Pep Guardiola’s boys, and their resolute defence set the stage for Will Grigg to light the stadium on fire as he hit the winner late on in the game to end their hopes of a quadruple this year.
Having been a rock in defence for them across the 90 minutes, Elder made the interception in the game that led to Grigg’s 79th minute winner, and with Wigan already putting out Bournemouth and West Ham United, he’ll be hoping to continue what has turned into a great loan spell for him when they face Southampton in the coming quarter final tie.
Can`t describe that feeling tonight, unbelievable ⚽️♥️
