Leicester have risen to 9th favourites to win the eagerly awaited 09/10 Championship season. Vital Football partners Oddschecker have Nigel Pearson’s men at 8/1 (best price) to win the division this season.

Leicester were promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt last season, after suffering relegation to League One under Ian Holloway in 07/08. Therefore, the bookmakers’ opinion may come as a surprise to most football supporters, as the Foxes are placed within the ‘playoff contenders’ bracket.

If you’re an eternal pessimist you can also get the same odds for City to be relegated, a scenario which fans do not wish to encounter again anytime soon.

As for Leicester’s opening fixture against Swansea on August 8th, Nigel Pearson’s men have been placed at 5/4 favourites for the clash, with the Swans in at 21/10 and the draw at 9/4.

I can’t think why the odds are so short — other than mathematically if you look at history the Foxes are fighting so much below their weight it is embarassing.
