Leicester full-back Robbie Neilson has joined League One side Brentford for a month.

Neilson has not started for the Foxes since a 4-1 home defeat to West Brom back in October, after losing his first-team spot to Kyle Naughton.

Under Paulo Sousa’s disastrous regime Neilson was perhaps City’s best performer, but the 30-year-old has generally failed to convince supporters of his value during his time at the Walkers Stadium.

Brentford chief Nicky Forster said: “Robbie is a seasoned professional and is looking forward to coming here to play regular football.”

The right-back joined the Foxes from Hearts on a free transfer in July 2009, and was a regular feature under Nigel Pearson during the Foxes’ successful play-off finish last season.

But since Sven-Goran Eriksson’s arrival, the Scot has been forced to settle for a mere squad place following the influx of arrivals at Filbert Way.
