It was again reported over the weekend that Riyad Mahrez could be a target for Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

With Mahrez stepping up to be one of Leicester’s key players and one of the best performing players this year in the Premier League, he’s also become no stranger to transfer speculation over the last few months and it’s not the first time the Spanish giants have been potentially linked with him.

The Mirror were reporting recently that Luis Enrique had made Mahrez the man he wants to take to the Nou Camp over the summer, having been heavily impressed with his style and goal return of 14 with 10 assists so far this campaign.

With Jamie Vardy now tied to a new longer term contract, negotiations are ongoing with the Algerian over a new deal once more but The Mirror suggest the club are largely resigned to losing him at the end of the campaign.

Quite how they’d know remains a mystery but in today’s media you can seemingly get away with saying anything without proof and when regularly shown to be wrong, there’s never a comeback in football.

It is said that Mahrez has always wanted to play for Barcelona, so the Mirror suggest even doubling his wages won’t change his mind.
