It’s being reported in Spanish press that Riyad Mahrez has an ‘objective’ this summer of securing a move from Leicester City to Barcelona.

The Leicester Mercury tracked the speculation from Spain and it comes from sport.es.

Of course Mahrez to Barcelona links are nothing new and I’ve ignored more speculation than I’ve ever covered on here, but the latest claims seem to suggest that representatives of the winger and the club have been in discussions for a few ‘months’ apparently and that the 26 year old has now set his heart on a move to the Nou Camp.

As ever with speculation like this there’s nothing you can physically hang your hat on, nobody is quoted and it’s the typical ‘understands’ ‘sources have suggested’ nonsense that the media get away with on a regular basis – but hey it’s an international break and it’s one piece of speculation that isn’t being forgotten about in the press.

Whether that means there’s something in it ultimately or simply Mahrez and Barcelona make good headlines is probably an individual decision to be made, but with Leicester’s Champions League campaign this year, if anybody wondered how he would adjust to that level of competition, those questions have now been answered with four goals and two assists as we head into the quarter finals.

They report an offer of around £30-34million should suffice to tempt our hand but we are not willing to enter into direct discussions until Premier League survival is achieved.

Sport also suggest that Mahrez’s representatives have been contacted by Juventus and Liverpool as well.
