Well the European Championships have now kicked off over in France, but speculation surrounding Leicester City players this summer continues apace.

Jamie Vardy’s on going, will he won’t he, to Arsenal with them triggering the release clause in his deal continues to tick on and it appears nobody in reality has any real clue on where things stand at this minute.

Sky Italia have manager Claudio Ranieri quoted as saying recently.

‘Arsenal told us that they want to pay the clause, but he has not yet decided. I know it will be a very difficult championship. We hope to stay around the first five or six. We have to enjoy the moment, trying to focus immediately on the Community Shield.’

With N’Golo Kante linked regularly with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, it’s now being reported by the Daily Star that Liverpool are the latest side to express an interest.

This is hardly surprising – mainly because I think the Daily Star have even linked me with a move to Liverpool this summer. It’s said that Manchester United remain favourites for his signature and that Jose Mourinho is determined to make him one of his first captures since taking the job on.

Laurent Perrin, a Le Parisien journalist has recently recently about Kante.

‘PSG are doing their utmost to convince him. The offer is there and is very interesting financially, but Kanté adores England. He will make a decision after the Euros.’

Whether the implication there is talks have been successful or at least enough for Leicester to give permission to speak – or we are resigned to somebody activating the reported £22million release fee so aren’t stopping him from talking to people, I don’t know.

Moving onto Riyad Mahrez, he was speaking at a Nike event in Paris at the weekend, and intimated he hadn’t yet made a decision about his own future yet – albeit no firm offers have come in for him and he confirmed he remained very happy at the club.

‘The season went very well. As you know, we have won the league which was very important. It is incredible. It was by far my best season in my career. I am not putting pressure on myself for next season. It will be a season about confirming my ability. Without pressure, I will have to work hard. Leicester is a family club. I would like to stay. I am very happy. It is flattering to hear about links to other clubs, as I said nothing is agreed, nothing is done. For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see.’

That of course has set of speculation about his own future once again as you would expect.

With speculation linking us to Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani the last couple of months, Portuguese media SAPO Desporto has saying that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are tracking the 27 year old, but we have now formally had a bid rejected by the club.

It’s said a 20million Euro offer went in, possibly at the weekend, as we continue to look at contingencies given uncertainty of Vardy. The Algerian scored 31 times last season, but his club want to hold out for the suggested 30million Euro clause in his contract.

And that’s about it unless I’ve missed something blindingly obvious?
