It’s being reported tonight that earlier in the evening Arsenal met the release fee clause in Jamie Vardy’s new contract.

The 29 year old England international was said to have a £20million fee inserted into his deal, and apparently Arsenal have now met that fee and are free to speak with him.

Having scored 24 goals for Leicester as we went from the bottom of the Premier League table into top spot to take the title in 12 short months, with the season he’s had it’s probably no surprise really that finally an offer has come in for him.

The media have sources close to Leicester confirming the offer, and it appears the same is being said from people inside the Arsenal camp.

The release clause did only apply to teams, reportedly, in the Champions League and that ruled out the interest from West Ham and Liverpool and there’s further speculation that today was the final day where that release could be activated.

We shall see.
