An Interview With A Blackburn Fan

Ahead of our game against Blackburn, we had a quick word with Sasman from the team at Vital Blackburn.

So with thanks!

1) What are your hopes for this season and where do you see yourself finishing, also how are fans reacting to both your board and the boss following relegation – better times ahead?

Without sounding cocky, promotion is a must. We have players on large wages, financially we can cope with 1 season of parachute payments, but anything longer and we will struggle. The fans are struggling to cope with relegation. Whilst we understand that no team is too good for the drop, we do feel that with any other manager at the helm, we would of stayed up and competed for top 10 honours.

2) Any highlights to speak of from pre season or the league?

Pre-Season was abysmal! Losing to lower league teams, keeping our manager and the circus that is Shebby Singh has really shown how bad we have fallen. As for the league, a good start, a tough away draw at Ipswich followed by a morale boosting victory against Hull.

3) Any weaknesses that we can take advantage of – hints welcome!

We are too predictable. Rovers will come out in a 4-3-3 with a target man and 2 wingers. This won’t change for 90 minutes. Come up with a tactic to counter this and we will struggle to create any chances.

4) Who is your dangerman and are their any new additions we should look out for?

It really depends who Steve ‘The Bald One’ Kean decides to send out in our starting 11. We never have the same team and unfortunately the danger men rarely get an opportunity! Would love the likes of Rochina or Vukcevic to be out there but they won’t, so maybe Mauro Formica will be the key to unlock your back line? If he plays that is!

5) Where do you see Leicester finishing this time round and do you think Nigel Pearson is the man to take us up?

Leicester City look like a versatile squad with the talent to, at the very least, challenge for a play-off squad. A solid strike force with a good all round midfield is the key and Nigel Pearson should be able to utilise this.

6) If you could sign one of our players, who would it be?

The Rover in me would welcome back Paul Gallagher however it is not too hard to look past David Nugent who scores for fun. Ritchie De Leat also deserves a mention for his versatility along the back line.

7) Where do you see our main threat?

Up front. David Nugent and Jermaine Beckford both know how to find the back of the net, its just a matter of which of our defenders will turn up, the tough solid back line or the mistake prone one!

8) Where do you think our main weakness lies?

From what I have seen and read, 4-5-1 seems to be your formation? If you play with the one up top, you will struggle, regardless of how good Nugent is. Our centre halves struggle with multiple runners, a more effective formation would be 2 up top with 1 in behind. Will cause mayhem!

9) Which way will the game go, a prediction please?

The pressure is on Kean to get a run of results, we very rarely win 2 on the trot let alone go 3 undefeated, I think a 1-1 draw with Danny Murphy and Nugent finding the net!
