All About Fitness For Pearson

Nigel Pearson has brushed off the draw against York City, reminding fans it’s still about fitness in pre season and nothing more.

Following the scoreless draw against York, Nigel Pearson has said it was another good workout for the players as a number of them got 90 minutes under their belts.

Speaking to lcfc.com the gaffer pointed to the likes of David Nugent, Chris Wood, Anthony Knockaert and Matty James who all completed their first 90 minutes of pre season and he insisted that was more important than the result.

‘It’s important not to read too much into the results. Win, lose or draw, tonight I was looking to learn a bit more about where the players are at – both physically and psychologically. We know their actual fitness because we’re monitoring them all the time, but when you’re out there playing the situation is sometimes a little bit different.’

Pearson said what’s important at this stage is the fact that the senior squad mainly got 90 minutes and that will bring them on further in our preparations than a victory would.
