The second of Leicester’s pre-season games saw them sneak a win against Macclesfield Town, due to a goal in the last 5 minutes from Elvis Hammond. The game seemed to be heading for a draw before Hammond nodded in from a Chris O’Grady flick on. The win has made it two in a row for Leicester so far in pre season and could be a sign for City fans to have a bit of optimism for the up coming season.

However, although Leicester have managed to get two wins in the first two games. The game against Macclesfield last night saw Leicester start with the eleven players that could possibly start the opening game of the season (Douglas, Stearman, McCarthy, Kenton, Johansson, Maybury, Johnson, Williams, Tiatto, Fryatt, Hume). During the first half both teams only created a few chances resulting in a 0-0 score line at half time. Although it is a friendly it must be worrying for Leicester fans that arguably Leicester’s best starting eleven could only manage a draw in 45 minutes against League Two opposition.

During the second half Rob Kelly again made several substitutions, as he did in the first game against Boston and this effected the tempo of the game. It is important for Kelly to make sure that as many players as possible gain some match fitness during the pre season games and due to this fans cannot moan too much about the second half performance.

Although it has been a good start to the pre season schedule, with two Leicester wins and Kelly giving every player some match fitness. It would give Leicester fans more hope if in the next friendly against Stockport County on Friday 21st July. They could see the starting eleven that will start the new campaign play as a unit and produce a performance which shows that come the 5th August, they will be ready to take on the best the Championship has to offer.

not worried, but not over excited. we have a long season ahead and a lot of ground to make up if we are to be in the running towards the end.
